Dr. Ibrahim Kamel, Chairman of the Egyptian–Russian Friendship Association, extended his congratulations to His Excellency Ambassador Hamdy Shaaban, Egypt’s Ambassador to Moscow, on the occasion of presenting his credentials to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Dr. Kamel wished the ambassador success in his mission and expressed hope for activating cooperation between friendship associations in Egypt and Russia with the support of the Egyptian Embassy in Moscow.

In the same context, Sherif Ged, Chairman of the Egyptian Association of Graduates of Russian and Soviet Universities, also congratulated Ambassador Shaaban. Ged noted that from their first meeting at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cairo, there was a strong sense that the Egyptian state places great importance on developing relations with the Russian Federation. He added that the coming period is expected to witness a qualitative leap in bilateral cooperation, the signs of which have already begun to emerge since Ambassador Shaaban’s arrival in Moscow and his holding of a series of highly important meetings with senior officials, aimed at achieving maximum results in activating bilateral relations between the two countries.

Ambassador Hamdy Shaaban, Egypt’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation, presented his credentials to President Vladimir Putin last Thursday. During the ceremony for receiving the credentials of a number of newly appointed ambassadors, President Putin stressed the special nature of Egyptian–Russian relations, describing Egypt as one of the most important countries in the Middle East and North Africa. He noted that relations between the two countries are founded on mutual trust within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement of 2018.

In a related context, President Putin highlighted Russia’s strong interest in cooperation with Egypt to implement several major strategic projects, foremost among them the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant project and the Russian Industrial Zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone.

Following the credentials ceremony, President Putin met with the Egyptian ambassador and affirmed his appreciation for the longstanding friendship he shares with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, asking that his greetings be conveyed to the Egyptian president. He expressed Russia’s aspiration to deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries and to continue implementing major joint projects, led by the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, which he described as a landmark in the course of Egyptian–Russian cooperation.
