Tens of thousands of protesters have taken to the streets in six German cities to demand a fairer distribution of government funds amid an energy crisis in the European country.

Demonstrations,  which began last Saturday, continue in Germany with the participation of about 24,000 people in the capital, Berlin, and in the cities of Dusseldorf, Hanover, Stuttgart, Dresden and Frankfurt am Main.

Police said about 1,800 protesters gathered in Berlin alone, according to the Spanish newspaper, La Vanguardia.

Germany is facing a massive rise in energy and commodity prices, with inflation reaching its highest level in more than a quarter of a century at 10.9% in September.
