A forthcoming meeting between Washington and Tehran could pave the way for a formal agreement, following signs of progress in ongoing diplomatic efforts, Reuters reported, citing a Pakistani source.
The source said the two sides may initially sign a memorandum of understanding, to be followed by a comprehensive deal within 60 days, according to the report.
The reported breakthrough comes after Pakistan’s army chief held talks in Tehran that helped ease longstanding points of contention, the source added, suggesting momentum is building toward a potential accord.
There was no immediate official confirmation from U.S. or Iranian authorities. However, the development signals a possible shift in diplomatic dynamics after months of heightened tensions between the two countries.
