Egypt are set to host Senegal in the first leg of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers play off, set to take place at Cairo Stadium on Friday, March 25th.

The second leg will take place on Tuesday, Match 29th in Senegal.

Ahly playmaker Magdi Afsha was recalled to Egypt’s squad for a World Cup qualifying playoff against Senegal but there was no room for teammate Mohamed Sherif despite his fine goal-scoring run of late.

Egypt coach Carlos Queiroz also included three new faces in his 23-man roster for the anticipated two-legged clash — Ahly defender Yasser Ibrahim, Pyramids FC full-back Omar Gaber and midfielder Nabil Emad.

Mohamed Magdy Afsha, who was born on March 6th in 1996, is an Egyptian footballer, playing for Egyptian Giants Al Ahly as an attacking midfielder.

He joined the Red Devils in the 2019 summers transfer window from Pyramids FC. Since joining Al Ahly, he became one of the major players in the squad, guiding his team to claim the 2020 CAF Champions League title after launching a 85-minute strike, which hit the back of Abu Gabel's net to defeat Zamalek 2-1 in the final.

He clinched his first trophy with the Red Devils in 2019-20 season when they won the Egyptian Premier League trophy, then he won Egypt cup in the same season to complete the double. He helped the team to win their two consecutive CAF Champions League titles in 2019-20, and 2020-21 seasons.

The 26-year-old international midfielder claimed two CAF Super Cup trophies with Al Ahly.
