On Saturday, many reports highlighted that Prince Anne, Queen Elizabeth II`s daughter, is being lined up to become to the next Royal Marines Captain General after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped away royal duties according to the Daily Express.
According to a statement issued by the Buckingham Palace that the Duke and the Duchess' titles and patronages will be redistributed among the working members of the Royal Family.
Princess Anne would be the first woman to have ever held such a position.
Regarding choosing the Princess for such a position, sources told the Times: “She’s not going to cause any problems or scandals. It wouldn’t be fair to take it off one brother and give it to the other.”
Moreover, they underscored that the Marines forces would “obviously like to keep Harry,” however, Anne is “well liked” within the force.
Prince Harry served in the army for ten years, rising to the rank of Captain.
On Friday, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they won’t be returning as working members in the Royal family, according to a statement issued by Buckingham Palace.
On the other hand, the Palace highlighted that the couple and Queen Elizabeth II agreed that the couple wants to continue their life away from any royal duties.
This means that honorary titles held by the Duke and the Duchess would be re-distributed among working members of the royal family.
However, the couple announced that they will continue to be committed to some duties, commenting: “We can all live a life of service. Service is universal.”
