The second in the line to the throne Prince William said that he supports and respects any move taken by any Caribbean nation to make its decision to be an independent republic as Belize, the Bahamas, and Jamaica, the Canadian Globe and Mail reported on Saturday.
Reading the three Caribbean relations with the British Monarchy, the Duke of Cambridge described in his speech in Nassau, the Bahamas: “Next year, I know you are all looking forward to celebrating 50 years of independence – your Golden Anniversary."
“And with Jamaica celebrating 60 years of independence this year, and Belize celebrating 40 years of independence last year, I want to say this: We support with pride and respect your decisions about your future. Relationships evolve. Friendship endures," he finalized.
Last week, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, Caribbean tour. The couple will have an eight-day tour which will include Jamaica, and the Bahamas.
The last Royal visit conducted to Jamaica was by the Queen and it was 70 years ago.
Started with Belize, the Cambridges will have three nights there, before moving to Jamaica on March 22nd, and the Bahamas on March 26th
Moreover, this tour is the first international one by the couple since the beginning of the pandemic.
