On Saturday, the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate Middleton, released a message on the latest events in Sydney Australia, the knife attack and gunfire in one of the shopping malls, that left behind six dead and several injured.

The British Senior Royal said: "We are shocked and saddened by the terrible events in Sydney earlier today. Our thoughts are with all those affected, including the loved ones of those lost and the heroic emergency responders who risked their own lives to save others. W & C."

This could be the first royal message signed by Kate Middleton since announcing her cancer diagnosis last month.

At least six people were killed, and others were injured in a knife attack, and a possible shooting in a shopping mall near Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, authorities announced on Saturday.

Crowds in the shopping mall started to flee the place after multiple stabbings and a possible shooting. The incident sparked a major police response in the place.

Australian media outlets reported that there were gunshots inside Westfield Mall at Bondi Junction near Bondi Beach.

Police confirmed the incident of both the gunshots and the multiple stabbings.

New South Wales (NSW) Police said in a statement: “A critical incident has commenced following the shooting of male at Bondi Junction. Just before 4pm (Saturday 13 April 2024), emergency services were called to Westfield Bondi Junction following reports of multiple people stabbed."

The statement added: "People are urged to avoid the area. Inquiries are continuing in relation to the incident and there are no further details.”

NSW Police confirmed in a press conference on Saturday that at least six people have been killed and the attacker was shot dead by a responding police officer.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said after the attack: "I have been briefed by the AFP on the devastating events at Bondi Junction. Tragically, multiple casualties have been reported and the first thoughts of all Australians are with those affected and their loved ones," said Albanese. "Our hearts go out to those injured and we offer our thanks to those caring for them as well as our brave police and first responders.”
