The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have signed a new multi-year “first look” agreement with Netflix, after several media reports indicated that the streaming giant would not renew their contract.
Harry and Meghan's first five-year deal with Netflix in 2020 was reportedly worth $100 million after stepping back from senior royal duties.
Their Archewell Productions has since produced several projects, including With Love, Meghan, and the documentary Polo.
The new deal will cover new film and TV projects, with details undisclosed. Upcoming releases include a second season of With Love, Meghan later this month, a Christmas special in December, and Masaka Kids, A Rhythm Within, a documentary on Ugandan children orphaned by Aids.
Meghan said the couple was “proud to extend our partnership” and expand their work to include her As Ever lifestyle brand, now in collaboration with Netflix.
The renewal follows mixed results for past projects for example, With Love, Meghan failed to break Netflix’s top 300 shows this year, while Polo ranked 3,346 out of 7,000 titles.
The pair’s $20m Spotify podcast deal ended in 2023 after just 12 episodes.
