Prince Charles and Duchess of Cornwall made their first visit to the pyramids, on Thursday, during their tour in Egypt.
On the first day of a royal visit to Egypt, the couple stopped by to see the pyramids and the Great Sphinx of Giza.
The Prince has seen the tourist hotspot in a private capacity but has not been on an official visit before, while the Duchess has never been. Now, he was extremely keen to show his wife the breathtaking sights, believing they are an example of human ingenuity.
A source said: "The Prince is convinced that human ingenuity can help stop climate change because when you look at the pyramids you realize just what people can do."
In the same vein, the couple visited Al-Azhar Mosque to meet with Grand Imam Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayyeb and a group of young scholars religious tolerance.
Notably, the royal couple arrived in Cairo, earlier today, in a two-day historic visit. They were welcomed by Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled Al-Anani as well as members of British Embassy staff at Cairo International airport.
