Following his visit to Sphinx International Airport earlier today, Egypt’s Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, accompanied by senior officials, inspected the ongoing development works in the area surrounding the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) and the main roads leading to it, as part of the final preparations for the museum’s opening in November.

At the start of the tour, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of completing all development works around GEM in a manner befitting its status as the world’s largest museum dedicated to antiquities. He emphasized the state’s commitment to upgrading the area at the highest standards, transforming it into a cultural and touristic landmark that improves the visual identity of the site, attracts more visitors, and provides a unique experience for tourists.

Dr. Madbouly noted that the government has already upgraded all major roads leading to GEM and the Giza Pyramids area, creating a vast and integrated road network to facilitate access. This, he explained, ensures harmony between the museum and its surrounding sites, providing a comprehensive cultural setting with modern services for visitors.

Hind Abdel Halim, Deputy Governor of Giza, highlighted that the works are being executed to the highest quality standards, covering roads, squares, pavements, lighting, landscaping, and signage. She added that infrastructure upgrades have also been completed to improve traffic flow in the approaches to GEM.

During the tour, the Prime Minister inspected the newly designed statue at the entrance of the Cairo–Alexandria Desert Road near the toll gate, which was created under the supervision of Dr. Tarek Sobhi, project consultant. The artwork, inspired by ancient Egyptian civilization yet reflecting modern artistic vision, has now been fully installed, with landscaping, lighting, and finishing works nearing completion.

The Prime Minister also inspected several key sites including Hazem Hassan Tunnel in Remaya Square, the Remaya Square interchange itself, and the Fayoum Road leading to the touristic route, where he reviewed the completion of paving, landscaping, irrigation, and lighting works. Additionally, he visited Officers’ Housing Street and the area behind GEM near the Ring Road expansions, where works such as painting, interlock installation, marble cladding, tree planting, and lighting systems have reached nearly 100% completion.

As for the Cairo–Alexandria Desert Road, works on beautification, wall painting, and road surfacing are almost fully finalized, with iron fencing completed at 98% and electrical works at 95%.

Dr. Madbouly concluded by instructing all teams to accelerate the finishing touches, ensuring the area reflects Egypt’s cultural grandeur and is ready to welcome visitors for the landmark opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
