On Wednesday, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced that the highly anticipated official opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) will take place in 2025. The museum, located near the Giza Pyramids, is set to become one of the world’s largest and most advanced archaeological institutions.

Speaking at a press conference, Madbouly emphasized that the government is pursuing a clear strategy to stabilize the economy and achieve sustainable growth. He described the recent agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as a strong vote of confidence in Egypt’s economic resilience and prospects.

Highlighting Egypt’s economic performance, Madbouly noted that the country achieved a 3.5% growth rate, signaling positive momentum despite global economic challenges. He further pointed out that private sector investments now account for 63.5% of total investments, reflecting the government’s efforts to encourage private enterprise and diversify economic activity.

The Grand Egyptian Museum, which has been under construction for years, is expected to become a global cultural landmark. It will house tens of thousands of artifacts, including the complete collection of treasures from King Tutankhamun’s tomb. With state-of-the-art facilities and a prime location near Cairo’s iconic Pyramids of Giza, the GEM is poised to strengthen Egypt’s position as a leading global tourist destination.
