After the package of new decisions taken by the Supreme Committee for Coronavirus Crisis Management, headed by Prime Minister Dr Mostafa Madbouly, the Minister of Culture Dr Enas Abdel Dayem, announced the resumption of book fairs activities in various governorates.
The activities will begin with “Alexandria Book Fair”, which will be held from 1 to 10 October in Kouta land – Shatby District in Alexandria
.
Abdel-Dayem thanked the Prime Minister for allowing to deliver the message of enlightenment, which reflects the state's belief in the importance of creativity in building human being and developing societies.
Besides, the minister praised the decision that allows the resumption of book fairs activities with an attendance of 50% of the capacity of the hosting locations – with total adhering to the preventive measures that were approved by the Council of Ministers.
The minister stressed that the decision highlights the continuing efforts to resume the normal life in Egypt.
On his part, Dr Haitham Al-Hajj, head of The Egyptian General Book Authority, said that Alexandria Book Fair is held on an area of 3000 meters; it will include the participation of 134 publishing houses in addition to the participation of the various sectors of the Ministry of Culture.
Dr. Al-Hajj added that all precautionary measures will be applied to stop the spread of Coronavirus, including- measuring Temperatures, self-sterilization gates, wearing medical masks, maintaining safe distances, in addition to determining the number of visitors with 50 % capacity.
Furthermore, he emphasized his willingness to organize several other fairs in various governorates.
