Egypt’s Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady posted on his official Facebook account President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s tweet in which he lauded the Yemeni reconciliation agreement signed Tuesday.
In less than two hours, the post attracted more than 3,000 likes, 500 comments and 250 shares.
The reactions’ figures are not the interesting thing that this report is focusing on.
In other words, Sada al-Balad English (SEE News) is putting in your hands an unprecedented incident that has never happened in the modern history of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady in Touch with Public
When a Facebook user wondered “how Sisi wrote that tweet while he was flying,” the presidential spokesman replied about the reason behind her wonder of the President’s tweet, writing: “Why?”
There have been dozens of presidential spokesperson for Egypt’s Presidents throughout the history, but it was not known that those spokespersons were engaging in public talks with people.
Presidential Spokesperson are ordinary civil servants who work for the government. But the wondering is about breaking taboos of the Egyptian beliefs.
When Rady made sure about the questioner’s seriousness to know how the president is posting online, while he is on board, he immediately explained that President Sisi is already at home, not on his way to elsewhere.
It was a misunderstanding that the questioner thought that Sisi was in Washington to attend the tripartite talks on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, GERD.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed this “personal keenness” to make the talks succeed.
Trump disclosed in a phone call with Sisi on Monday that he will receive the foreign ministers of Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia in the Oval Office at the White House.
Rady Gained Respect
Back to the Rady’s phenomenon as we can say. Ambassador Bassam Rady broke a taboo that officials are not reachable.
Some of the post’s commentators cast doubt that Rady was the one who is writing the replied and communicating with them.
“I’m the presidential spokesperson and I’m the only administrator of this official Facebook page,” Rady affirmed.
Communicating with the public on a social media platform made dozens to show respect to Rady and President Sisi who chose such a respectable and honorable person to be his official tongue.
In October, 2017, Rady was appointed to be the presidential spokesperson. His first appearance was in France during Sisi’s first official visit to Paris.
It’s widely known among reporters accredited by the presidential media office that Rady is humble and cooperative.
