Health Affairs Presidential Advisor Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din said that Egypt aims to vaccinate 40% of its population against COVID-19 by the end of 2021.
In televised remarks, he added that about 11 million Egyptians have been fully vaccinated.
Moreover, he stressed that students aged 13 to 18 years will be given the “Pfizer” COVID-19 vaccine because it has been fully accredited internationally.
On Monday, Egypt’s Health Ministry reported 929 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the country’s total up to 338,414.
The total number of COVID-19-related deaths has now reached 19,130 nationwide after the ministry announced 54 deaths.
About 522 patients were discharged from quarantine at isolation hospitals, raising the total number of fully-recovered cases to 283,747.
