President Sisi vows deeper Egypt-Tanzania strategic partnership

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said relations between Egypt and Tanzania are built on a long history of mutual respect and constructive cooperation, reaffirming Cairo's commitment to expanding the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, El-Sisi said recent years have seen significant progress in bilateral relations through closer political coordination and broader economic cooperation.

The Egyptian president said his talks with President Hassan focused on increasing trade, encouraging investment and expanding cooperation in sectors including construction, transport, ports, logistics, energy, agriculture, irrigation and pharmaceuticals.

El-Sisi also expressed Egypt's interest in building on the success of Egyptian companies in completing the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project by securing additional development projects in Tanzania.

He announced plans to expand technical support, training programmes and knowledge transfer to strengthen Tanzanian expertise. The two sides also discussed launching a large-scale agricultural project in Tanzania to support food security, expanding Dar es Salaam Port, establishing a maritime shipping route between Safaga and Dar es Salaam, and creating a multimodal transport corridor linking Cairo and Dar es Salaam.

El-Sisi added that the talks also covered developments in the Middle East, the Horn of Africa, the Red Sea and the Nile Basin, with both countries agreeing to continue close coordination on regional and international issues.
