President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received, on Saturday, a phone call from U.S. President Donald Trump.
Mohamed El-Shenawy, official Presidential spokesperson, stated that the conversation between the two leaders was positive.
They stressed on the importance of continuing the implementation of the first and second phases of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, which was reached through Egyptian, Qatari, and American mediation.
They also emphasized the need to intensify the delivery of humanitarian aid to the residents of Gaza.
For his part, Sisi underlined the importance of achieving lasting peace in the region, noting that the international community relies on President Trump’s ability to secure a historic and permanent peace agreement to end the decades-long conflict.
He also highlighted Trump's commitment to peace, as stated in his inaugural speech, and stressed the need to launch a peace process that leads to a lasting resolution in the region.
