Two US B-52 bombers, accompanied by a number of air refueling aircraft and a group of fighter jets, carried out a sortie this morning over the Middle East. The route of the flight that departed from Britain included flying over the airspace of Jordan and Iraq, then passing over the Arabian Gulf along the Iranian coast.
During the flight, the bombers were prevented from entering Egyptian airspace because they had not informed the competent authorities in advance, which was confirmed by recordings of the pilots’ conversations.
They were then allowed to wait for coordination with the higher level.
