President Sisi Receives AfDB Chief

​President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received today Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), which comprises the African Development Bank and the African Development Fund. 

The meeting was attended by Hassan Abdalla, Acting Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt and Egypt’s Governor to the African Development Bank, as well as Dr. Khaled Sherif, Executive Director for Egypt and Djibouti, and Mohamed El Azizi, Director General of the Regional Development and Business Delivery Office for North Africa.

​Mohamed El-Shennawy, official presidential spokesperson stated that President Sisi welcomed Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, reaffirming Egypt's full support for his leadership of the Group since he assumed office in September 2025. 

Sisi noted the current economic and geopolitical challenges affecting development efforts in African nations, which underscores the pivotal role of the Bank and the Fund in mobilizing financial resources and providing the necessary technical support to countries across the continent.

​For his part, AfDB chief expressed his pleasure at meeting the President and his deep appreciation for the support Egypt provides to the Group. 

Moreover, he affirmed his commitment to working closely with the Egyptian government to strengthen the long-standing cooperation between Egypt and the Group. Dr. Ould Tah also congratulated Egypt on the economic reforms implemented over the past decade and the resilience of the Egyptian economy in the face of global challenges, noting the importance of studying the Egyptian experience for the benefit of other African nations.
