President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received, in Sharm El-Sheikh, Jin Liqun, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, on the sidelines of the bank’s Board of Governors meetings held in Egypt.
the President affirmed Egypt’s appreciation for the distinguished relations with the Asian Bank, especially in light of the important role it played during the past years as a partner of Egypt in the development process, official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic Counselor Ahmed Fahmy said
The president expressed his aspiration to explore more areas of cooperation with the bank, especially in the areas of transportation, clean energy, and supporting the transformation to a green economy.
For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Asian Bank expressed his honor to meet the President, appreciating Egypt for successfully hosting the meetings of the Bank’s Board of Governors, which are held for the first time in Africa, stressing the Bank’s pride in the close cooperation relations with Egypt and its various financial institutions.
He also praised the Egyptian experience in achieving economic development, thus the Asian Bank is keen to continue strengthening the investment portfolio in Egypt, especially with regard to financing infrastructure projects in various vital sectors.
The official spokesman added that the meeting focused on the ongoing efforts to reform the international financing system, and the role of multilateral development banks in enhancing the ability of developing countries to face global economic challenges.
