President Sisi Attends UN’s Sustainable Development Summit

Egypt’s President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi is participating in the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Summit entitled" Accelerating the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals".

Sisi is scheduled to deliver a speech on Egypt's vision to achieve the sustainable development goals at the international level, in addition to focusing on international peace, security maintenance, international terrorism and combating extremism

Sisi arrived in New York on Friday to participate in the 74th session of the UN General Assembly, with a busy schedule that included participating in a number of high-level conferences and meetings with world leaders.

The president will also discuss a number of African issues during his speech in light of Egypt’s chairmanship of the African Union.

He participated in a number of high-level forums which addressed the current challenges facing the international community.

The Egyptian president held a number of meetings with world leaders on the sidelines of the 74th session, where he discussed and exchanged viewpoints on boosting bilateral ties with Egypt in various fields.

The meetings with the leaders will also see an assessment over regional and international developments of common interest.

According to the presidential statement, President El-Sisi will sit for meetings with representatives of major US corporations and economic and investment institutions which eye increasing their businesses and investments in Egypt.

In 2018, the president chaired the high-level meeting of the Group of 77 that was held under Egypt for the third time in its history.

He met  U.S. political and intellectual figures, Congressmen, heads of major companies and investment funds and members of the American Chamber of Commerce.

Sisi also attended the Nelson Mandela Peace Summit, which coincided with the centennial celebration of the late African leader’s birthday.
