President El Sisi to Head to Greece Today

On Wednesday, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is heading to Athens, Greece, for an official visit to the Hellenic Republic, as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance joint cooperation between the two countries.

The Presidency spokesperson, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, stated that Presdient El Sisi will have a meeting with the Greek President, in addition to a round of talks with the Greek Prime Minister. 

He will also head the Egyptian delegation at the inaugural meeting of the High-Level Cooperation Council between Egypt and Greece. 

The Greek side will be led by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. 

The Council is set to discuss ways to continue strengthening and developing bilateral relations across various fields, particularly in energy, trade exchange, and economic cooperation.

The visit will also witness the signing of a joint declaration on the strategic partnership between the two countries, along with a number of memorandums of understanding to enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The spokesperson added that the President’s meetings with Greek officials will include discussions on the latest regional and international developments of mutual concern and the exchange of views on these issues.

Following his official visit to Greece, Presdient El Sisi will head to Moscow, Russia, to participate in the Victory Day celebrations on May 9, in response to an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
