President El Sisi Praises Japan for Hosting TICAD7

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi expressed his sincere appreciation to the people and the Government of Japan for hosting the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 7) scheduled for August 28-30.

He also lauded  the organizers of this important meeting, in particular the African Union (AU) Commission, the World Bank and  the United Nations Office of the Special Adviser on Africa.

He stressed that the TICAD objectives since its first summit in 1993 have proved to be one of the important platforms that bring together various partners to support Africa and its development aspirations.

El Sisi sent a letter to participants in the upcoming "TICAD7" summit, which was published on the official website of the Japanese Foreign Ministry on Monday.

In his message, El Sisi said that the process of integration in Africa has started significantly during the past two decades since the establishment of the African Union.

He added that  adoption of the “African Agenda 2063” and  launching of the African Continental Free Trade Area is an important cornerstone of African efforts to achieve the desired regional and economic integration.

He went on to say that the African Union has succeeded over years in formulating a number of goals and aspirations that have been included the agenda ``2063''. AU prioritizes projects of development in the continent, which will contribute to the achievement of sustainable development.

Those projects focus on t aspirations of the African peoples to attain prosperity and sustainable development.

"In this regard, we are looking forward to the contribution of the TICAD and Africa's other strategic partners in promoting joint efforts to achieve the above-mentioned goals and aspirations," the president said in his message.

"I have no doubt that TICAD7 will continue its successful projects through focusing on needs and priorities of Africa and exploiting the strengths of its partners," El Sisi concluded.
