On Tuesday, the Algerian presidency announced that President Abdelmadjid Tebboune tested positive for coronavirus, adding that his health condition is gradually improving as he receives treatment in a German hospital.
Tebboune became first president of an Arab country to contract the deadly virus.
On Wednesday, the Algerian President was transferred to Germany to undergo special medical examinations, a day after he was hospitalized, according to the Presidency’s statement.
The statement added that the president's transfer to Germany was made at the request of the presidency staff.
On October 24th, the president entered a self-quarantine for five days after contacting many officials working in the Presidency Headquarters who had symptoms of the novel coronavirus.
