Preparatory Meeting for 40th Anniversary Session of COMCEC Kicks Off

A two-day preparatory Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) for the 40th Anniversary Ministerial Session of the OIC Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) started its proceedings on 2nd November 2024 in Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye, under the Chairmanship of H.E. Mr. Ridvan Agaoglu, Vice President of the Strategy and Budget of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye. H.E. Dr Ahmad Sengendo, Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Affairs, leads the delegation of the OIC General Secretariat to the SOM.

The SOM, which is taking place prior to the 40th Anniversary Ministerial Session of COMCEC scheduled for Istanbul, Türkiye, on 4th-5th November 2024, will review the status of implementation of various projects of the OIC in the area of trade and investment, agriculture, tourism and finance, Private Sector and poverty alleviation, among others. The SOM will also prepare draft decisions on the agenda items of the 40th COMCEC meeting for submission to the Ministerial Session.

The COMCEC is an OIC Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation, which meets annually to review OIC activities in the area of economic and trade development. The President of the Republic of Turkiye is the Chairman of the COMCEC.
