The Government of Portugal, through its Ministry of Health, has donated a consignment of medicines and medical equipment to Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population to aid in the treatment of Palestinian patients receiving care in Egyptian hospitals.
The shipment, weighing approximately 5,000 kilograms, was delivered at Cairo Airport on December 13. The reception was attended by Rui Tereno, Ambassador of Portugal in Egypt; Dr. Hatem Amer, Assistant Minister for Health; and Dr. Mohamed Elakkad, General-Director of Medical Services at the Ministry of Health and Population.
This donation reflects Portugal’s recognition of the urgent humanitarian needs faced by the Palestinian population, particularly in Gaza. It also acknowledges Egypt’s significant efforts in providing medical assistance to Palestinian patients within its healthcare facilities.
Described as both a gesture of solidarity and a testament to the strong bilateral relationship between Portugal and Egypt, this initiative highlights the ongoing cooperation between the two nations in addressing regional humanitarian challenges.
