On the final stop of the U.S. Ports Roadshow, U.S. Ambassador Herro Mustafa Garg led a delegation of top U.S. companies to Ain Sokhna, a strategically located port on the Red Sea and a key component of the Suez Canal Economic Zone. The Ambassador and the delegation were welcomed by Captain Ahmed Gamal, Vice Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) for the South Sector. While in Suez Governorate, Ambassador Mustafa Garg met with Major General Tarek El-Shazly, Governor of Suez, and visited the Suez National Museum, which houses a magnificent collection of artifacts and tells the history of Suez from the Pharaonic era to modern times.
The U.S. business delegation accompanying Ambassador Mustafa Garg included industry leaders such as Bechtel, Cisco, Hill International, TMEIC, OSI/Rapiscan, Aveva, and Alvarez & Marsal Holdings, all globally recognized for their expertise in modernizing and expanding ports.
Ambassador Mustafa Garg emphasized Ain Sokhna’s critical role, stating: “Ain Sokhna Port is being designed for the future – not just for Egypt, but for the region. By working together, we can advance mutual prosperity, create jobs, and build a world-class hub that anchors the Suez Canal Economic Zone.”
The Ports Roadshow, which began in Alexandria on September 14, continued to Damietta on September 15 and Port Said on September 16, concluded in Ain Sokhna before moving to Cairo. By supporting Egypt’s port development, U.S. companies are driving economic growth, creating high-quality jobs at home, and strengthening the U.S.–Egypt partnership for shared prosperity.
