Tonight, Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, will lead the Easter Mass at the Saint Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Abbassia.
The service is being held in the presence of a large number of bishops, priests, as well as several ministers, public figures, and both Muslim and Christian religious leaders.
The Coptic Orthodox Church's Media Center had previously announced the arrangements for the Easter service, stating that coordination was made with the general bishops overseeing pastoral sectors in Cairo.
Sunday, the day of Easter, and Monday will be public holidays in Egypt on the occasion of Easter and Spring Day (Sham Al Nassim).
