Pope Tawadros II, head of the Coptic Orthodox Church, led the Palm Sunday mass in Alexandria earlier on Sunday at the Cathedral of St. Mark.
This Palm Sunday marks the first time Pope Tawadros II led the mass at the Cathedral of St. Mark in Alexandria since the two deadly attacks in Tanta in 2017 that left 47 people dead and 100 others injured.
It is also the first Palm Sunday mass to be held in the Cathedral at full capacity after two years following the coronavirus pandemic.
In the same vein, Minister of Endowments Mohamed Mukhtar Gomaa congratulated the Pope and all Christian churches on Easter Sunday, which Coptic Orthodox Christians celebrate this year on April 24th.
Gomaa asserted that the Egyptians are one entity, and the homeland is for all its people without discrimination on the basis of religion, colour, gender, race or language.
Moreover, the minister hailed the national spirit that pushes all Egyptians to work together for the interest of the country and all its people.
