Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria & Patriarch of the See of St. Mark announced that the church will issue a statement on Tuesday, about the reopening of churches in Cairo and Alexandria.

Pope Tawadros II said "We will issue a statement on Tuesday, and we will pray with an attendance of 25%."

The prayers were suspended at the churches due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier January, Armenian Catholic Churches in Egypt opened their doors again for prayers on January 20, after an 18-day closure period due to the Coronavirus.

“Fifty-seven more deaths were confirmed; raising the total number to 8,959,” Khaled Megahed, the Health Ministry’s spokesman, said in a statement.

“Up to 126,497 patients have recovered so far,” the spokesman said.

“As many as 321 Egyptians were among the recovered patients today,” he added.

Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed noted Egypt is the first African country to get the coronavirus vaccine and launch a vaccination campaign for its citizens.
