Pope Francis, 86, will visit Mongolia from August 31 to September 4, Vatican announcedin a statement without providing any details about the visit program.
It is the first papal visit to the Buddhist-majority East Asian country, which is home to one of the world's smallest communities of Catholics, 1,500 out of three million ones.
Earlier, Pope Francis has urged local authorities to allow humanitarian organizations access to areas affected by the cyclone that devastated parts of Burma and Bangladesh two weeks ago.
"I appeal to those in charge to facilitate the arrival of humanitarian aid," the pope said.
