Vatican announced in a statement today, Wednesday evening, that Pope Francis is suffering from a respiratory infection, and will remain in hospital for a few days, as Pope Francis was transferred to Gemelli Hospital in Rome to undergo medical examinations.
The Pope had breathing difficulties in recent days but does not have Covid, the statement said, according to BBC.
He will need "a few days of appropriate hospital medical therapy".
"Pope Francis is touched by the many messages received and expresses his gratitude for the closeness and prayer," the statement added.
