The Vatican announced on Tuesday evening that Pope Francis remains in critical but stable condition, according to AFP.
The head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, was transferred to the Gemelli Hospital in Rome on February 14 due to breathing difficulties, and his health has gradually worsened over the days.
The Vatican clarified in an official statement that "the Holy Father's clinical condition remains critical but stable," adding that Pope Francis, who is 88 years old, spent his twelfth night in the hospital.
The statement further mentioned: "There have been no acute respiratory episodes, and vital signs remain stable," referring to his heart rate and blood pressure.
Pope Francis stated, "I continue my treatment with confidence and ask for prayers for peace."
