Pope Francis II: Health Problems May Lead to Resign from Papal Position

Pope Francis II has said he may step down if he becomes too tired to continue in the post.

When asked by the media what might lead him to resign, the 86-year-old pope warned of "fatigue that makes you not see things." Clearly, the lack of clarity when it comes to knowing how to assess situations," according to the "Daily Mail" website.

The Pope said he was "a little ashamed to use a wheelchair because of a knee injury," and added: "I am old, I have less physical resistance, the knee problem was a physical humiliation, even if the recovery is going well now."

Last month, the pope said that papal resignations should happen in exceptional circumstances, and said that resignation was not "on his agenda."

Pope Francis has presided over the Catholic Church since March 2013, and last week he gave an interview to RSI, marking the 10th anniversary of his papacy, and excerpts were published in Italian newspapers La Repubblica, La Stampa and Corriere della Sera, where he also said that the war in Ukraine was motivated interests of many empires.

He said the conflict in Ukraine was being driven by "imperial interests, not only of the Russian Empire, but of empires from elsewhere", and expressed his willingness to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin to advocate for peace.
