Pope Francis, Pope of the Vatican AND head of the Catholic Church in the world, commented on the recent incident of burning a copy of the Qur'an in Sweden.

He stressed that "allowing this is rejected and condemned" and that "freedom of expression should not be used as an excuse to offend others."

According to the Russia Today website, the Pope expressed his deep anger at such behavior and said: I feel anger and disgust at these behaviors. Any book considered sacred by its authors must be respected with respect for its believers, and freedom of expression must never be used as an excuse to despise others, and allowing this is unacceptable. And condemned."

The Pope added, "Today, we need peacebuilders, not weapons makers. We need peacebuilders, not instigators of conflicts."
