The Vatican highlighted that Pope Francis's journey to Marseille centers on championing the migrant cause, emphasizing their rights and self-worth. This sojourn aligns with the finale of the Mediterranean Sea conferences. Besides his emphasis on migration, the Pope's itinerary includes an engagement with French President Emmanuel Macron and conducting his premiere Mass in France.

An Eventful Day in Marseille

Pope Francis's day starts with a pilgrimage to the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de la Garde, dedicated to a prayer session with the clergy for the Virgin Mary. Subsequently, he will pay his respects at the "Croix de Camargue", a memorial anchor symbolizing two young Marseillais lost at sea.
