Today, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that the US State Department intends to re-include Cuba in the list of "States sponsoring terrorism", before his departure from his post on January 20.
Pompeo said in an interview with Bloomberg Television that "We are not anticipating any decisions , but the world is witnessing the evil deeds of Cuba in many places."
Pompeo denounced Cuba's great support for Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, saying that Havana caused "Tremendous pain" in Venezuela, which has a collapsing economy.
US secretary added that "It is quite appropriate to consider whether Cuba is indeed a sponsor of terrorism. And if it is, then like any other country that provides material support to terrorists, we should consider it a sponsor of terrorism, and treat it based on that behavior."
It is noteworthy that in 2015, former US President Barack Obama removed Cuba from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
