The political crisis that is hitting Iraq was exacerbated, after the Sadrist deputies, led by Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sadr resigned from the Iraqi parliament.
Jaafar al-Sadr, the Sadrist movement’s candidate for the position of Iraqi Prime Minister, announced his withdrawal from the race, following the approval of the Iraqi Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi on the mass resignations of the Sadrist deputies.
This mass resignation puts the country's future in several possibilities, including the tendency to hold new parliamentary elections after the parliament is dissolved.
Al-Halbousi tweeted that he reluctantly accepted the resignations of the partners in the Sadrist bloc and that he made great efforts to persuade Muqtada al-Sadr, to rescind the resignations of the Sadrist bloc.
Al-Sadr considered that the political blockage in Iraq is "artificial" and that the country's reform "will only be through a majority government.
