Nana Labat Rachid, a writer, activist close to the Polisario Front and an advisor to the so-called the Sahara president said Friday that the US president granted what he does not have to those who do not deserve.

She added, in exclusive statements to "Sputnik", that "the Western Sahara has no sovereignty over it except for its people, which is the Sahrawi people.”

"We condemn US President Donald Trump's decision,” she added.

Regarding the options available to the Polisario Front, Rachid noted that "The only option that exists currently is the resumption of the armed struggle.”

In the latter half of 2020, the Polisario Front began obstructing a key trade route between Morocco and Mauritania.

The Polisario Front is outlawed in the parts of Western Sahara under Moroccan control.

In the same context, the "Sahrawi ambassador" in Algeria, Abdelkader Talib Omar, described the Trump's declaration of recognition of Morocco's sovereignty over the "Western Sahara" region, Thursday, as lacking legitimacy.

The "Sahrawi" ambassador in Algeria considered Trump's statements unilateral and inpidual, stressing that "they will not change anything from the determination of the Sahrawi people."

Trump wrote in a tweet, yesterday, Thursday: "Today I signed a declaration recognizing Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara."

On the other hand, the "Sahrawi" ambassador in Algeria strongly criticized Morocco's decision to fully normalize its diplomatic relations with Israel.

On Thursday, December 10, Israel and Morocco agreed to normalize their relations in an agreement reached with the help of the United States, which makes Morocco the fourth Arab country to join the normalization train this year, after the UAE, Bahrain and Sudan.

“The United States recognizes Moroccan sovereignty over the entire territory of the Sahara and reaffirms its support for Morocco’s serious, reliable and realistic proposal for autonomy as the only basis for a just and lasting solution to the conflict over the Sahara lands… To this end, a consulate will be opened in the Sahara region in the city of Dakhla to promote economic and commercial opportunities for Morocco,” the White House statement stated on Thursday.
