Police Seize 1,913 Strategic Commodities Violating Cases within 24 Hours

The Egyptian Ministry of Interior announced that the General Administration of Supply and Trade Police had reported 1,913 various supply cases within 24 hours.

The ministry stated in a press statement on Friday that this was done in coordination with the departments of the supply police and its branches in the security directorates and the public security sector, with their expanded supply campaigns to prevent financial crimes from putting supply chain at risk.

Among those cases, was the case of selling white rice for more than the price, with seizures amounting to 4,025 tons, the case of withholding white rice with seizures amounting to 24,345 tons, and 55 cases of withholding barley rice with seizures amounting to 634,880 tons.

In addition, 5 cases were seized for withholding strategic commodities with seizures amounting to 5,150 tons of various foodstuffs and fodder, 17,000 packages juices, food commodities, and 641 cases of selling at more than the price and not announcing prices for food commodities. 

Non-food and building materials seizures amounted to 10 tons of cement, 31,275 tons of white flour, 22,164 tons of miscellaneous commodities and foodstuffs, 19,500 packets of crackers, as well as 15,194 packs of cigarettes.

Also, 958 cases were seized in the field of bakery violations, with seizures amounting to 49,130 tons of subsidized municipal flour, and 26 cases of subsidized goods, the most prominent of which were 4,750 tons of sugar ration,  subsidized fertilizers - 60,400 liters of gasoline, diesel.

The total volume of seizures of food commodities amounted to 786,319 tons, most notably 49,130 tons of local flour, 31,275 tons of white flour, 28,370 tons of white rice, 634,880 tons of barley rice, 27,314 tons of various commodities, foodstuffs and fodder, 4,750 tons of sugar - fertilizers, 36,500 packages of various foodstuffs, 60,400 liters of petroleum products "diesel - gasoline", 15,194 packs of cigarettes - 10 tons of cement.
