Poland’s Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has issued an urgent call for Polish citizens residing in Iran to leave the country immediately due to escalating tensions in the Middle East.
According to a report from Radio Poland, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has long advised its citizens against staying in Iran because of the ongoing regional conflicts.
However, the situation has now reached a critical point, prompting this latest warning.
The announcement coincides with the one-year anniversary of the events of October 7 and the subsequent war between Israel and Gaza.
This conflict has resulted in over 41,000 deaths, mostly women and children, and more than 97,000 injuries.
With no ceasefire agreement in place and the war continuing to rage, Israel has expanded its military actions, launching airstrikes against the Lebanese group Hezbollah and assassinating its leader, Hassan Nasrallah.
In retaliation, Iran launched missile strikes on Israel, claiming they were in response to both the killing of Hezbollah's leader and the assassination of the Secretary-General of the Palestinian Hamas movement, who was killed by Israeli forces during a visit to Tehran earlier.
