Poland’s Operational Command confirmed that it scrambled warplanes in response to a series of Russian airstrikes targeting multiple regions in Ukraine.
In a statement on X, the Polish Armed Forces said all essential procedures were activated to secure the country’s airspace.
Allied aircraft joined Polish fighters, while air defence and radar systems were placed on maximum alert.
Air raid sirens were reported across Ukraine’s western regions, including Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, and Ternopil. Earlier alerts also warned of missile and drone threats over Transcarpathia, Rivne, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Chernihiv, and Chernivtsi.
The escalation underscores growing tensions near NATO’s eastern flank as the war in Ukraine intensifies.
