The Polish company Berne, the operator of pipelines, said that it had discovered, yesterday evening, Saturday, a leak from one of the pipelines of the Druzhba pipeline , which transports oil from Russia to Europe, and announced that it had stopped pumping oil through the line.
The company stated that the leak was discovered near the city of Świcz, central Poland, from one of the two lines of the western sector of Druzhba, through which crude oil is pumped to Germany.
The company added in a statement that the second line is working without any changes, and there are no health risks to the population, adding that the company has opened an investigation to find out the cause of the accident.
It did not say if this had an impact on supplies or when the repair work was expected to be completed.
