On Sunday, Mining Company JSV said that the death toll in the Zofiowka coal mine accident in southern Poland reached 4, while 6 miners went missing.

The bodies of the two other miners were found earlier Sunday.

The company said in a statement that rescuers continue to search for six missing miners, noting that "methane" concentrations and high temperature slow down the rescue process.

On Saturday morning, a violent quake occurred at a depth of 900 meters in the Zofiowka mine, accompanied by a large methane leak.

Among the 52 workers near the quake site, only 42 were able to return to the surface safely, knowing that 12 teams of rescuers were formed to try to find the rest.

That is the second such incident this week in Poland, which still relies on coal for nearly 70% of its energy.
