On behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Egyptian Prime Minister (PM) Mostafa Madbouly participated in the 38th Ordinary Session of African Union (AU) Summit, held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
During the event, he met with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, in the presence of Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs.
At the beginning of the meeting, Madbouly conveyed President El-Sisi’s greetings to Secretary-General Guterres.
He then outlined Egypt’s efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza and to oversee the implementation of its various phases.
PM stressed the importance of intensifying international efforts to maintain the ceasefire agreement.
Madbouly reaffirmed Egypt’s consistent stance in supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, particularly their right to establish an independent state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with the two-state solution.
Additionally, PM highlighted Egypt’s ongoing coordination with regional and international partners to reinforce ceasefire efforts and reconstruction initiatives.
He also mentioned Egypt’s role in preparing for the upcoming emergency Arab Summit.
For his part, António Guterres requested that his greetings be conveyed to President El-Sisi.
Guterres praised Egypt’s efforts in supporting the Palestinian cause and expressed his eagerness to continue close coordination with Egypt on this matter.
