Prime Minister Dr. Mustafa Madbouly met on Sunday, Iraqi parliament speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi, and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting was attended by in Alaa Fouad, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Alaa Musa, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Arab Affairs, and Ahmed Nayef al-Dulaimi, Iraq’s ambassador to Egypt.
At the outset of the meeting, Madbouli welcomed Iraqi parliamrnt speaker, expressing his aspiration to enhance cooperation with the Iraqi Parliament in everything that serves the interests of the two countries and the two brotherly peoples within the framework of their historical relations, brotherhood, unity of destiny and common goals.
Moreover, Madbouly stressed the importance of parliaments' role in consolidating relations between both countries, expressing his appreciation for close cooperation between the Egyptian and Iraqi legislative institutions.
In additio , PM referred to the distinguished level of relations between the two countries and the tangible development they have witnessed in recent years, whether on the bilateral or tripartite levels between Egypt, Iraq and Jordan.
He also touched on the ongoing coordination between the concerned authorities in the two countries to hold meetings of the joint Egyptian-Iraqi higher committee in Cairo, expressing his aspiration for the joint committee to come out with results that contribute to advancing bilateral relations.
On his part, Iraqi parliament speaker thanked the Prime Minister for the good reception, expressing the Iraqi parliament's aspiration to strengthen bilateral relations with Egypt, as well as within the framework of the joint tripartite cooperation mechanism between Egypt, Iraq and Jordan.
The meeting also discussed a number of common Arab issues, and efforts being made to strengthen cooperation between Arab countries.
