Egypt's Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli inspected a number of projects and factories in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) to follow up on the progress made in implementing these projects, the infrastructure and utilities work, and the revamp of Ain Sokhna Port.

The prime Minister began his tour by visiting the logistic zone of the Mercedes-Benz international company.

Then, he paid a visit to a project of Benya Cables and a project of developing the Ain Sokhna port during the tour.

On the sideline of his visit with a number of ministers and officials concerned, Madbouli is expected to inaugurate central laboratories of the General Organization For Export & Import Control and an agricultural quarantine zone.

In 2021, the SCZone inked an agreement worth EGP 20 billion ($1.27 billion) with the General Authority for Roads and Bridges to develop the Canal Zone’s Ain Sokhna port.

The agreement is part of a plan to turn the port into a leading hub in the region on the Red Sea and the Middle East, and to serve the global trade movement between the east and the west.

It also comes under presidential directives to revamp national ports and boost their efficiency to raise their competitiveness among other ports along the Red Sea and the Mediterranean.
