PM Mostafa Madbouly pointed out to the resumption of fertilizer factories production due to natural gas supply, one of the main components needed for the sector.

This came during a meeting Wednesday with the ministers of agriculture, business, and petroleum to follow up on the situation of fertilizer production.

The Prime Minister said that the goal of this meeting is to follow up on the position of the fertilizer industry in Egypt, especially in light of the decrease in production volume that this important sector has witnessed during the recent period, which has caused the emergence of a black market in it.

The doctor added: Therefore, our goal now is to increase our production of fertilizers and provide them in a way that contributes to eliminating any attempts to continue the black market in this important sector.

Mohamed Al-Homsani, the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, said that the meeting witnessed confirmation that “after providing gas to fertilizer production companies, these companies began to resume their production normally.”

Al-Homsani added that during the meeting, emphasis was placed on the necessity of closing the outlets for subsidized fertilizers to leak into the black market, as directives were given to the necessity of working to control this system, in a way that contributes to the support reaching those who deserve it.

He explained that during the meeting, emphasis was placed on following up on the fertilizer supply system from producing factories in light of the availability of the quantities of natural gas required for production.
