PM Chairs Cabinet Meeting Via Video Conference

Egypt's Prime Minister (PM) Moustafa Madbouli chaired on Wednesday cabinet weekly meeting via video conference, to discuss the latest developments concerning Coronavirus crisis, as well as a number of important economic issues.

At the outset of the meeting, Madbouli expressed appreciation towards the Armed forces' key role in supporting the civil sector in fighting Coronavirus outbreak.

Moreover, the PM added that economic reform's measures during the last years have greatly contributed to decreasing the negative repercussions and consequences of this major global crisis on Egypt.

Madbouli pointed out that a committee has been formed to deal with the irregular employment file, in implementation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives, within the framework of the state’s efforts to deal with the virus crisis.

It is worth mentioning that, Egypt has so far registered 1450, including 94 deaths.

Egypt has recently taken strict precautionary measures to contain the spread of COVID-19, including temporary closure of schools, universities, museums and archeological sites, reducing employees and sterilizing means of transport, government offices, and tourist attractions.

Moreover, the Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli further announced on Tuesday a partial curfew nationwide from 7:00 evening to 6:00 morning and complete shutdown of all entertainment places for two weeks.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a global pandemic as the new virus has rapidly spread to more than 121,000 people from Asia to the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.

More cases of the virus, which causes respiratory disease COVID-19, continue to emerge, with outbreaks in South Korea, Italy, and Iran.

People across the globe partake in self-isolation for 14 days as an effective precautionary measure to protect those around them and themselves from contracting COVID-19.
