Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly emphasized that African nations are confronted with the challenge of securing sufficient funding to mitigate the effects of climate change.
"African nations are confronted with the challenge of securing sufficient financial resources to tackle the impacts of climate change," said Madbouly.
He also highlighted Egypt's success during COP27 in garnering international support for the Climate Change Loss and Damage Fund.
Madbouly's remarks came during the inaugural session of the high-level discussions at the Climate Summit, which is part of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 11 to 22, 2024, representing His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic.
Upon his arrival at the summit, the Prime Minister was greeted by Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Both the Secretary-General and the President of Azerbaijan expressed their appreciation for Egypt's participation in this significant event, where leaders and heads of government from approximately 200 countries convene to address the challenges of global warming and its severe impacts.
COP29, held under the theme "In Solidarity for a Green World," brings leaders and heads of governments from 200 countries together to discuss ways to mitigate global warming and its devastating consequences.
