With the participation of the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, the funeral of Secretary-General of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Saeb Erekat was sent Wednesday from the presidential headquarters in Ramallah.

The official funeral was attended by Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh, members of the Executive Committees of the PLO and the central Fatah movement in addition to the government, and members of his family.

Honor guards were lined up while the body of the great fighter Erekat was arriving at the presidential headquarters, and the Palestinian national anthem was played. The president and the participants cast a last farewell look at his body before it was buried.

Notably, Erekat passed away a short while ago from COVID-19. He has devoted his life to defending the Palestinian cause through various diplomatic and negotiated means. He was striving relentlessly to restore the rights of the Palestinian people despite all the obstacles and difficult circumstances faced by the Palestinian cause over the past decades.
